Beekeepers of the Neuse Beginner Beekeeping Course to Start January 11th
Beginner Beekeeping is taught by members of Beekeepers of the Neuse, the Wayne County chapter of the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association This beginner beekeeping class is for anyone interested in learning about honey bees. Students are not required to have or purchase bees.
Course objectives: • Provide knowledge about honey bees and beekeeping • Provide beekeeping, best-practice resources • Provide opportunities for advanced educational experiences • Connect new beekeepers to a supportive community • Help you become a good beekeeper!
Registration includes: The Beekeepers Handbook 5th edition (2021) by Diana Sammatoro and Alphonse Avitable Membership in Beekeepers of the Neuse including a club T-shirt Membership in the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Four days of beekeeping instruction at University of Mount Olive January 11, 2025 9:00am to 1:00pm January 18, 2025 9:00am to 1:00pm January 25, 2025 9:00am to 1:00pm February 1, 2025 9:00am to 1:00pm
Beginner Beekeeping is $70 for individual registration. Family registration is $70 for the first family member and $40 for each additional family member (includes one book).
Products and treatments Testing for the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Master Beekeeping Program is available on the last day of the class. After four months of caring for bees, you are eligible to take the practical exam (found in the NCSBA website). Once the written and practical exams are successfully completed, you are a certified beekeeper with NCSBA.
