Between the Lines Bookstore Opening in August: By Rhonda Coakley
Pillars of the Earth. The Giver. Mutant Message Down Under. These are just a few of the books that have made my top ten favorite list. The great thing about a list like this is it can change... and often does. It may depend on who made the recommendation, having read it at the exact time you needed it, or the recognition of truth hidden between the lines.
I've always been an avid reader and sharing great books was one of my favorite aspects of being an educator. I remember saying, "Books are like friends; if they are good ones, you want to visit with them over and over again". Tuck Everlasting, Bridge to Terabithia, Holes, and How to Eat Fried Worms were just a few "must reads" every year.
After being retired for several years, I decided this past spring to dust off the book jacket and get back in the game. I am proud to introduce to you my "next chapter." During August, I will be opening the doors to Between the Lines bookstore. Located at 144 N. Center Street, I hope to make it a local place to meet friends, take a class or learn a new skill, and of course, choose a great book.
Will there be tea? You bet. Games and puzzles? Of course. Cozy nooks and places to relax? Absolutely. But don't just take my word for it. Come meet Sapphira the dragon or perhaps the bunny in the secret garden and see for yourself.
To sum it up... there once was a girl who wanted to own a room full of books. It was me. The end.
