Continue to Ask God to Bless The United States of America!: By Mary Wroblewski
You may recognize some of this article as the sentiments expressed here have been a common thread in many of my articles. I repeat these sentiments because, in my opinion, we are living in precarious times and the upcoming general election may be the most important we have ever witnessed. Election Day 2024 is November 5th, however, in-person early voting in NC begins October 17th at 8AM and ends November 2nd at 3 PM. While we still have a voice in our government, it is time to act on our civic duty to vote. Be vigilant in your research efforts to find the truth about candidates who are running for office. Weed out those who do not have the best interest of the people and constitution of our great nation front and center in all of their campaign promises…and if you feel a candidate is lying, they probably are.
Carefully consider what has held this country together from its inception and why men and women are so willing to give their lives in defense of these United States of America. If faith, family, respect for life, and law and order are important to you, this is your chance to vote to protect those freedoms. Commit yourself to being prepared to take a critical look at every candidate and stand up for your beliefs and value systems when you step into the voting booth.
On July 4th we will again celebrate our country’s independence and what freedom means to each and every one of us. Nationwide parades will be held, speeches will be given, those who have paid for our freedom with the ultimate sacrifice will be honored and remembered, as will all those brave men and women who saw a better way, and acted on it, committing to a system of government that proposed to ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in these United States.
With the backdrop of summer cookouts, pool parties, beach visits, and fireworks displays, families and friends will come together to celebrate. They will celebrate: our rich history of diversity, the blend of cultures and customs that makes us the most unique country in the world, and, the fact that we are all much more alike than we are different. We pray, that our democracy will remain strong in the face of those that would try to dismantle all that makes us “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.
So, while enjoying a lovely summer holiday with your family, keep in mind how fragile this freedom of ours is and take a moment to give thanks for all your blessings and ask God to continue to BLESS The United States of America.
Happy Independence Day Wayne County!
