Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Blood Drive, a Great Success!
On February 13, 2024, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority joined Goldsboro High School to sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive. By all accounts, it was a very worthwhile and successful endeavor.
The Red Cross expressed that the drive exceeded previous donation records in the last couple of years at Goldsboro High. The goal for this drive was to collect 25 units of blood and 35 were collected.
The goal for “Power Red” units of blood was for 4 units and 8 were collected. (These donors give a concentrated dose of red cells that are used for trauma and surgery patients.) There were eight first time donors, twenty African American donors, and forty-seven registered donors, a first time high in each of these categories for a GHS Blood Drive, post COVID.
The sorority thanks Basketball Coach Kadesia Bryant of Goldsboro High for allowing us to partner with the school and use their facilities. The sorority also thanks everyone contributing to the success of the Blood Drive and encourages everyone to become a regular donor, as this is a gift that saves lives.
