Give Thanks By Clara Barnes Costner
It is time we all gather
To give thanks for blessings shown
We meet and greet each other
In this special place, we call home
There have been times during the year
This Fall, Summer, Winter maybe Spring
When we knew God never left us
But wondered what life would bring
As we look around the table
Relatives, loved ones, and friends are here
We cherish these moments together
With those we hold dear
Each family is unique
Giving thanks in their way
A reunion of sorts, not all agreeing
Always looking forward to this day
The fellowship we share is precious
Over the years, things we have learned
To be thankful for God’s grace
It is unmerited favor, not earned
It is not about the feast before us
The aromatic spices permeating the air
For us it’s about giving God thanks
In a song, a conversation, and in prayer
“O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalms 107:1 KJV
