Make America Holy Again, By Mary Wroblewski
We are nearly 6 weeks out from the inauguration of our 47th president, and I cannot recall a time when things have moved so quickly in respect to actually seeing in real-time the will of the people being executed. We have heard for decades of government excess, waste, fraud, and abuse; and many of us have seen it played out, but were powerless to do anything about it. It is long past time to end these practices that do nothing for the majority of Americans or even for those countries we thought we were helping… these slush funds that line the pockets of career politicians, lobbyist, special interest groups, warlords and gangs around the globe, paid for by the hardworking American taxpayers need to end now.
As this onion of overreach is being peeled back, we see the rot that exists inside, and the rot in the hearts of those responsible. They are exposed; and are very uncomfortably denying, what they allowed to happen. In the public square they are protesting, using the age-old practice of scapegoating and finger pointing at everyone but themselves.
If this was the only thing on the agenda for President Trump, it would be more than I have seen accomplished in Washington D.C. in the majority of my adult life. But it is not. President Trump is on a mission and appears tireless in his mission to turn our country around. Illegal border crossings have decreased in historic numbers, Peace talks to end Russia’s war in Ukraine have been set in motion along with plans that could lead to lasting peace and prosperity in the Middle East, hostages are being released, recent natural disasters have been addressed with plans to remove debris, and rebuild infrastructure; while keeping in mind prevention and mitigation of factors that lead to the degree of devastation that occurred…and the list goes on.
Budget cuts will be likely and are never easy. Those of us who have lived through more inflationary times than we can count, know that once prices go up, they don’t come down. We understand that sacrifices will need to be made, and everyone will need to step up and work together to see our government live within its means. We, as families, must make a personal commitment to live within our means, and help those less fortunate than ourselves along the way.
What better time to make an affirmation such as this, than, as we begin the most solemn season of Lent on March 5th; the start of 40 days of prayer, penance and almsgiving to prepare ourselves to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.
Let us examine our consciences and pray unceasingly with contrite hearts to make America HOLY again, and may we never forget what He sacrificed for us, that we may have eternal life in Him.
