Norwayne Alumni and Friends, Inc Gear Up for 50th Annual Homecoming Weekend

Fremont- The talk of the town is about Norwayne Alumni and Friends, Inc., (NAFI), headquartered at 106 East Norwayne Alumni Way, Fremont, NC 27830, gearing up for its fiftieth Annual Homecoming Weekend. Themed Celebrating 50 Years; Go Tell Somebody, Luke 8:39, this Labor Day Homecoming Weekend, September 1-4, 2022, will prove to be one of the best.

On Thursday, September 1st, prayer, spades, and bowling will kick off the event-filled weekend. At 12:00 Noon, the weekend of festivities will begin with prayer at the NAFI headquarters. The trash talking begins with card playing and bowling from 6 p.m.-10 p.m.

On Friday, September 2, 2022, a Meet and Greet Reception, 4 p.m.- 6:45 p.m. on the Maxwell Center Patio. The cost is free for members and $20 non-members. The NAFI members only business meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Maxwell Center Ballroom.

Saturday, September 3rd. the 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run begins at 7 a.m. in Fremont on the Alumni Grounds. Register at: runtheeast.com. The annual NAFI parade beginning at 10:00 a.m., Balance and Vance Streets, Fremont, NC.

Saturday, September 3, 2022, is the Homecoming Banquet at the Maxwell Center, 5:30 p.m. Latraviette Smith-Wilson is the banquet speaker. She is currently Chief Marketing and Equity Officer for Horizon Media.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for members; $40 non-members. The alumni dance follows at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the dance only is $20.

Sunday, September 4th will conclude this historic weekend of celebration. The NAFI Sunday Worship Service will be held at St. James Church of Christ, 514 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, NC 27830, 11:00 a.m.

The first NAFI book entitled The Norwayne Tales: Preserving a Heritage will also be unveiled and available for purchase.
