We Need Jesus Now More Than Ever! By Mary Wroblewski
The month of November is a month of extreme gratitude for ALL of the simple blessings, rights and privileges, we are afforded as citizens of these United States of America.
Election Day 2024 is upon us on November 5th. If you haven’t voted yet, set your reminders so you don’t miss your opportunity to exercise this privilege we enjoy as citizens of OUR great country. I don’t know about you, but I have become very familiar with my TV mute button during this election cycle and can’t help but think of the waste of money on TV ads that are filled with lies, half-truths, and content inappropriate for children in the room. In my opinion, these ads reflect how far our country has fallen from the standards and concepts we held so dear. In these unprecedented times, OUR country needs Jesus and His divine mercy to guide us out of the darkness and depravity we seem to be mired in. I pray, and I hope you will too, by end of day on November 5th, when legitimate votes are counted, the work of righting the ship will be underway and Americans will unite as they have never before.
On November 11th we celebrate Veteran’s Day, honoring the brave men and women who have served honorably in our military in wartime and in peacetime. Because these completely selfless individuals were willing to step up and serve, the citizens of our great nation enjoy the freedoms detailed in The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the laws of our land that have held us together as: one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all. Because of these veterans we have enjoyed the peace to leave our homes in the morning, and exercise our right to move about freely, going about our business, return home at the end of day and sleep well at night, with no threat of “incoming”. These brave men and women have seen it all and wear the scares that come with service to our country. The burden they carry for us to live in peace is great, and the debt we owe them is immeasurable. Please show them the respect, courtesy, and gratitude they deserve; not just on Veteran’s Day, but every day.
November 28th brings Thanksgiving, the day our country sets aside for gratitude. There are many dates that claim origins of Thanksgiving, but George Washington, our first president, declared the first national Thanksgiving in 1789. On Thanksgiving Day, families and friends gather to share a meal, show gratitude for all blessings received, and many attend church services where praise and thanksgiving is given to THE ONE from Whom ALL blessings come.
My Thanksgiving prayer for all the great citizens of Wayne County is for peace, unity, forgiveness and love everlasting.
